RC Harris Water Treatment Plant
The R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant is one of Toronto's most striking pieces of Art Deco architecture, sitting right on the Lake Ontario waterfront with its grand symmetrical facade, ornate detailing, and wide ceremonial steps leading down toward the water. Shoot from the bottom of the steps looking up to emphasize the building's imposing scale, or step back onto the lawn for a wider composition that captures the full facade with the lake in the frame. The building faces roughly south, so golden hour light in the late afternoon and evening bathes the front in warm tones and creates strong shadows that bring out the architectural relief. A wide-angle lens works well for the full exterior, while a longer focal length lets you isolate decorative details. The grounds are publicly accessible, and the lakeside path nearby gives you additional angles with water in the foreground. (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
