Sauble Beach
Sauble Beach stretches for 11 kilometers along the eastern shore of Lake Huron, making it one of the longest freshwater beaches in the world and a rewarding location for wide-angle landscape work. The flat, expansive shoreline gives you natural leading lines from the wet sand toward the horizon, and at low crowd times you can find long uninterrupted stretches that feel almost endless. Sunset is the headline event here, as Lake Huron faces west and delivers dramatic color directly over the water, often with vivid oranges and pinks reflecting across the shallow tidal flats. Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before sunset to scout your position and let the light build. A wide-angle lens works best for capturing the full sweep of beach and sky, though a short telephoto can compress the horizon beautifully during golden hour. Parking is available along the main beach road, and the flat terrain makes it easy to walk north away from the crowds for cleaner compositions. (Sauble Beach, Ontario, Canada)
