This quiet residential waterfront spot on Bainbridge Island offers one of the most compelling angles on the Seattle skyline available anywhere in the region, with Elliott Bay filling the foreground and the Cascades rising behind the city on clear days. You are shooting westward from a small, informal beach access point, so position yourself low near the waterline to pick up reflections and give the composition a strong sense of depth. A telephoto lens in the 70-200mm range works well for compressing the skyline against the mountains, though a wider focal length lets you incorporate more of the shoreline. Golden hour and blue hour both reward the trip, but sunrise is particularly striking when the city lights are still glowing and soft morning color builds behind the peaks. Parking is limited and the access is low-key, so be respectful of the surrounding neighborhood and arrive prepared to scout a bit on foot. (Bainbridge Island, Washington, United States)
