About Seebrücke Neustadt i. H.
Seebrücke Neustadt i. H. is a long wooden pier stretching out from the beach into the Lübeck Bay. It runs dead straight out over clear green water, then opens into a cross at the far end with swimming platforms and ladders down into the sea. The pier runs southwest, so evening sun comes straight back down the boards at you and the entire deck lights up. If you set up at the shore end you can let the rails, the planks and the flagpoles run away to a point and highlighting the leading lines of the pier. The side arms give you an amazing view looking out over the rest of the pier with the open water and wide sky behind. Look one way from out there and you've got the Neustadt marina with the town behind it. Turn around and the coast runs off low and wooded the other way. You're never stuck with one composition. The walk out is half the fun as well, because the promenade is laid out as an art kilometre with pieces set along it the whole way to the beach. Benches on the deck let you sit out a flat hour and wait for just the right light. Best of all it stays quiet, and most evenings you'll have the far end all to yourself.
