Shibuya Sky
Perched on top of Shibuya Scramble Square, this open-air rooftop observation deck sits at 230 meters and gives you a sweeping 360-degree view over one of Tokyo's most iconic neighborhoods. The deck is largely unobstructed, which lets you shoot in any direction without glass distortion getting in the way. Look down toward the famous Shibuya Crossing for a dramatic bird's-eye perspective, or turn toward Shinjuku and Mount Fuji on clear winter days for a strong wide-angle composition. Sunset and the blue hour transition are the prime windows here, as the city lights begin to glow against a fading sky. A 16-35mm wide-angle lens handles the skyline well, while a 70-200mm lets you compress distant landmarks. Arrive before sunset and stay through full dark to capture the full range of light. Book tickets in advance, as timed entry slots sell out quickly, especially on weekends. (Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan)
