Súgandiseyjarviti (Súgandisey Island Lighthouse)
Perched on a small rocky island just off the harbor of Stykkishólmur, this vivid orange lighthouse is one of Iceland's most photogenic coastal subjects, combining bold color, dramatic elevation, and sweeping views across Breiðafjörður Bay. Walk the short causeway from town and climb to the top of the island for wide compositions that layer the lighthouse against the fjord, distant mountains, and the scattered islands of Breiðafjörður. A wide-angle lens works well for capturing the full scene, while a short telephoto lets you isolate the lighthouse against moody skies or compress the background islands. The golden hour light here is exceptional, especially in summer when the sun stays low for hours; the warm tones bring out the orange paintwork beautifully. Overcast days produce soft, even light that suits the rugged textures of the basalt rock. The path up is short but uneven, so wear sturdy footwear. (Stykkishólmur, Snæfellsnes, Iceland)
