Setbergskirkja is a small, white-painted wooden chapel from 1892 sitting alone in an open rural landscape on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, with dramatic volcanic mountains and wide skies as a natural backdrop. The church's simple shape and crisp color make it easy to isolate against moody Icelandic skies, and you can work the surrounding fields and fencing as foreground elements to add depth. A wide to standard focal length works well here, somewhere between 24mm and 50mm, letting you balance the chapel against the mountains behind it. Overcast days are surprisingly flattering, softening shadows and bringing out the white paint, while golden hour adds warmth to the scene. The site is accessible directly from the roadside with no barriers, so you can walk freely around the building and experiment with low angles against dramatic cloud formations.
