Swiftcurrent Falls

Swiftcurrent Falls is a multi-tiered cascade on Swiftcurrent Creek in Glacier National Park, made exceptional by the backdrop of the sharp, triangular profile of Mount Grinnell rising directly behind it. The combination of rushing water and an iconic alpine peak in a single frame is what sets this spot apart from a typical waterfall shot. Position yourself on the footbridge or along the near bank to stack the falls and mountain together, and experiment with a wider focal length to capture both elements without losing the sense of scale. A polarizing filter helps cut glare on the water and deepens the sky. Morning light works well here, hitting the falls before the canyon walls cast heavy shadows.
