Siyeh Pass Trail is one of the most rewarding hikes in Glacier National Park, taking you through a dramatic sequence of environments, from wildflower-filled meadows to the raw, rocky terrain near the 8,000-foot pass. The views from the top open onto three separate valleys and put you face to face with Sexton Glacier and the sweeping ridgelines of the Continental Divide. Midday light works surprisingly well here given the high elevation and open exposure, but early morning starts reward you with softer light on the ascent through Preston Park and fewer people in your frames. A wide-angle lens captures the scale of the alpine scenery, while a telephoto lets you isolate glacier details and distant peaks. The trail is long at roughly 10 miles point to point, so plan for a full day and arrange a shuttle or second vehicle at the Sunrift Gorge trailhead. (Glacier National Park, Montana, United States)
