This compact but rewarding museum preserves a restored 1895 Sydney and Louisbourg Railway station alongside a collection of vintage locomotives and rolling stock on the adjacent tracks. The weathered wooden station building photographs beautifully on its own, especially with a wide angle lens to capture the full facade and platform details, but the real draw is positioning yourself alongside the old train cars to use them as bold leading lines or layered foreground elements. Details like rusted couplings, weathered paint, and cast iron hardware reward close-up work with a longer focal length. Overcast days are ideal here since soft, diffused light eliminates harsh shadows inside the rail cars and brings out texture in the aged timber and metal surfaces. The site is easily walkable and open-air for the rolling stock, so you can move freely around the equipment to find clean angles without crowds getting in your way. (Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada)
