The Churchill Arms

The Churchill Arms is one of London's most photographed pubs, famous for its extraordinary floral facade where hanging baskets and window boxes cascade with color across the entire front of the building. The display peaks in summer when the blooms are at their fullest, though the winter version, decorated with Christmas trees and lights, is equally striking. Shoot from directly across Kensington Church Street to get the full facade in frame, using a standard or slightly wide lens to capture the whole building without too much distortion. Overcast days work surprisingly well here, as the soft diffused light brings out the colors without harsh shadows. Morning light is your best bet on sunny days, catching the east-facing front before crowds gather and parked vehicles fill the street. A wider street view also lets you include the classic London streetscape as context for the shot. (London, England, United Kingdom)
