Holland Park Mews is a narrow, cobblestone lane tucked behind a stone archway in one of London's most affluent neighbourhoods, offering a remarkably preserved Victorian mews street lined with immaculate white-painted townhouses, black iron railings, and flowering window boxes. The tight, symmetrical row of facades rewards a wide to mid-range focal length, around 24 to 35mm, and shooting straight down the lane from the archway entrance gives you a strong leading line with natural compression pulling the houses together. Overcast days work particularly well here, as soft diffused light eliminates harsh shadows and keeps the white paintwork from blowing out. Early morning on weekdays is ideal since the street sees very little foot traffic and parked cars are less frequent, giving you cleaner compositions. Step back into the archway itself to add a natural frame around the scene. (London, England, United Kingdom)
