Built in 1732 and stretching over 65 meters, the Long Room at Trinity College is one of the great architectural interiors in Europe, with two levels of dark oak shelving, towering marble busts, and a barrel-vaulted ceiling that photographers come from around the world to capture. Your strongest shot is from the ground floor looking straight down the central aisle, using a wide-angle lens, around 16 to 24mm, to pull in the full length of the room and let the shelves converge into the distance. A slightly low shooting position emphasizes the height of the galleries above. Lighting inside is warm and consistent, so any time of day works, though morning visits tend to be less crowded and give you cleaner compositions without groups of tourists in frame. Tripods are not permitted, so raise your ISO and shoot wide open to keep things sharp. Book tickets in advance as queues can be long. (Dublin, Leinster, Ireland)
