About Thousand Islands Parkway Barn
This old barn sits right along the Thousand Islands Parkway near Mallorytown in eastern Ontario. The weathered grey wood has darkened with age and the whole property has a slowly-fading quality to it. The main barn has a peaked roof with a couple of smaller outbuildings alongside it, and old farm equipment and metal troughs sit in the yard. It is the kind of scene that stops you mid-drive. Sunset is when this barn is at its best. The Parkway runs roughly east to west along this stretch, and the sun drops behind the barn in the evening, lighting up the sky and silhouetting the roof lines. The warm light also catches the texture of the old wood and the metal in the yard. You can photograph it from the roadside or from the Waterfront Trail that runs directly in front of the property. The barn is on private property so keep to the road and trail. It is an easy stop if you are driving the Parkway between Brockville and Gananoque. (Mallorytown, Ontario, Canada)
