Toronto Financial District
This dense cluster of towers in the heart of downtown Toronto gives you one of the most dramatic urban canyon experiences in Canada, with First Canadian Place, Scotia Plaza, and The Adelaide Hotel stacking up into a skyline that rewards wide-angle and geometric compositions alike. Walk the streets at street level and look straight up to compress the towers into a converging-line shot, or step back to King Street or Bay Street intersections to frame multiple buildings in a single image. A 16-35mm lens works well for architecture here, though a tilt-shift will help manage distortion if you need clean verticals. Blue hour, just after sunset, is ideal when the office lights glow against a deep sky and artificial and natural light balance beautifully. Midday light creates harsh shadows between towers, so overcast days are actually useful for even exposure across the facades. Street-level access is easy throughout the district.
