Trinity Episcopal Church
Trinity Episcopal Church is a striking 19th-century stone Gothic Revival structure that sits on a small island in the Raquette River, connected to the surrounding streets by short bridges, making it one of the more unusual church settings you will find anywhere in the Northeast. The island placement gives you natural framing options from multiple directions, with the river wrapping around the building and often reflecting the facade in calmer water. Shoot from the bridge approaches to use the stone railings as foreground elements, or get low near the riverbank to include the water and any reflections beneath the church walls. Overcast days soften the contrast on the textured stonework and keep the scene evenly lit; golden hour light in late afternoon catches the west-facing facade particularly well. A moderate wide angle, somewhere in the 24 to 35mm range, handles the full building while keeping the river in frame. (Potsdam, New York, United States)
