Tupper Lake Municipal Park

Tupper Lake Municipal Park - Photo by Terry Branham1 / 1

Tupper Lake Municipal Park sits on the edge of Raquette Pond in the heart of the Adirondacks, offering a clean, unobstructed view across calm water toward a rolling treeline of mixed forest. The reflection potential here is excellent on still mornings, so arrive early and shoot low from the shoreline to maximize the mirror-like surface. A wide angle lens works well to capture the full sweep of the pond and surrounding hills, while a short telephoto lets you compress the layers of ridgeline in the background. Sunset is the classic time to shoot here, with warm light hitting the hills directly across the water, but calm mornings with mist lifting off the pond can be just as rewarding. The park is easy to access with open lawn space giving you room to adjust your position and find your ideal foreground. (Tupper Lake, New York, United States)
