Turret Arch

Turret Arch is a striking sandstone formation in Arches National Park, notable for its castle-like silhouette and two distinct openings stacked at different heights in the rock face. The most compelling shot here is from inside the lower opening, where you can frame the North and South Window Arches in the distance through the gap, creating a natural frame within a frame. A wide angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range works well for this composition, and you will need to position yourself low and back inside the arch to capture both the rocky ceiling overhead and the distant arches together. Early morning light is ideal, when soft golden tones hit the red rock and crowds are minimal. The formation sits just off the Windows Loop Trail, making it easy to reach, and you can walk completely through the lower opening to explore additional angles from the other side.
