About V&A Dundee
V&A Dundee is a unique museum dedicated to design and highlighting Scottish designers. It is also the first, and still the only, Victoria and Albert museum outside London. The building stretches out into the River Tay to mimic the prow of a ship and as a nod to the area's shipbuilding heritage. It's architecture was also inspired by the dramatic cliffs along the east coast of Scotland which led to the series of curved concrete walls that lock together, there isn't a single straight wall on the outside of the building. The concrete shells create two intricate upside down pyramids that weave together near the top to form a tunnel leading you out to the river promenade. You can use this tunnel as the perfect way to frame the nearby Tay Road Bridge, passing river traffic, or to experiment with street photography as people pass through the opening. On the promenade side you can use a wide angle lens to help you emphasize the building's twisting lean. The museum has an endless supply of photogenic opportunities, both inside and out, so make sure to give yourself lots of time to experiment. (Dundee, Scotland)
