Willard Memorial Chapel
Willard Memorial Chapel is a late 19th-century Romanesque Revival church in Auburn, New York, and one of the most photographically remarkable interiors in the northeastern United States. It holds the last complete, original Tiffany installation in existence, meaning every window, light fixture, and decorative surface was designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany and remains exactly as intended. Inside, you will find layered opportunities: shoot wide with a 16-35mm to capture the full sweep of the nave and glowing windows together, or move in close with a short telephoto to isolate individual window panels and their jewel-toned glass. Natural light filtering through the Tiffany windows is at its best on sunny mornings, when the colors saturate and project onto the interior surfaces. Bring a tripod since the space is dim and you will want sharp results at lower ISOs. Call ahead to confirm access, as the chapel operates limited public hours.
