Woolacombe Beach

Woolacombe Beach in North Devon is an award-winning, 3 mile stretch of golden sand renowned for its pristine waters, family friendly facilities, and world class surfing. Backed by rolling sand dunes, it is England's first ever World Surfing Reserve. It is a genuinely strong sunset location. The sand picks up warm light well across its full width, and the shallow slope means the incoming tide creates clean reflective surfaces as it washes across the beach. The dunes behind the beach are a popular vantage point, giving you an elevated angle over the bay with marram grass in the foreground and the full sweep of the coastline beyond. The beach huts along the shore add colour and a classic seaside element to tighter compositions. Autumn and winter tend to produce the clearest skies and most saturated sunsets here, when the summer haze lifts and the light has more intensity. (Woolacombe, Devon, England)
