Ilfracombe from the South West Coast Path
The South West Coast Path passes scenically along the hillside above Ilfracombe's western edge. This stretch above the town gives you a natural elevated position over the whole area. From here you're shooting down across the Landmark Theatre's distinctive twin cone towers, with the harbour, Wildersmouth Beach, and Capstone Hill headland all laid out in front of you. It's one of the few spots where you can take in the full layout of the town in a single frame, with enough visual variety in the foreground to keep compositions interesting. The unique roof line of the theatre's towers anchors the townscape. The sun sets behind you to the west which puts the warm evening light directly onto the town and harbour below. Evening is also an amazing time to shoot from this location as the lights of the town come on below you. The path is accessible on foot from the town centre and the walking route allows you to shift angles and move along the hillside. (Ilfracombe, Devon, England)
