Altes Schloss Hohenbaden Ruins
Altes Schloss Hohenbaden, also called Hohenbaden Castle, is a medieval ruin overlooking the town of Baden-Baden in southwestern Germany. Originally built in the 12th century and expanded over time, it served as the residence of the Margraves of Baden before being abandoned and later damaged by fire. Today, its remaining walls, towers, and archways sit among forested hills, giving a clear sense of its former scale. The elevated position opens up views across the Rhine Valley and surrounding landscape, while the interior ruins provide textured stonework, corridors, and window openings that frame the scenery beyond. Light shifts throughout the day, with softer conditions helping to bring out detail in the stone and add depth to the surrounding forest. Accessible by road and walking paths, the site offers a mix of viewpoints within the castle grounds and just beyond its walls. (Baden-Baden, Baden-Württemberg, Germany)
