Sitting along a quiet inlet on the Borgarfjörður estuary, this stretch of shoreline next to the Borgarnes Campground offers some of the most accessible and underrated waterfront shooting in western Iceland. At low tide, the bay pulls back to expose dark mudflats and shallow channels that create natural leading lines and strong reflections when water remains in the lower pools. Position yourself close to the waterline to maximize the mirror effect, and try a wide angle lens to take in the surrounding mountains and dramatic Icelandic sky. Golden hour light here is exceptional, especially in summer when the sun barely dips below the horizon and bathes everything in warm amber tones. The Northern Lights are also a genuine possibility in darker months, with the still water providing a reflection layer that doubles the impact. The campground nearby makes this easy to reach and revisit at different tidal stages. (Borgarnes, West Iceland, Iceland)
