About Botanischer Garten Augsburg,

The Augsburg Botanical Garden is a series of separate small gardens rather than one big open space. That means a lot of different frames within a short walk. Most of the layout was designed for the 1985 garden show, and the theme gardens are still here: a Japanese garden, a rose garden, a rock garden, a sunken garden. Start you day in the Japanese garden. It is the strongest set piece in the place and it holds up in flat light, so a grey day works in your favour. Overcast suits most of the rest too. Direct midday sun blows out pale petals and leaves you fighting hard shade under the trees. Cloud keeps the greens saturated and the flower detail intact. Then head for the glasshouses, where the tropical and subtropical collection lives. They are dim and humid, so expect your lens to fog when you walk in and give it a few minutes before you start. In summer the garden stays open well into the evening, which puts low light across the beds. There is an entry fee, and remember the glasshouses close before the garden does so make sure to check them out early in your shooting adventure. (Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany)
