Brooklyn Borough Hall is a handsome Greek Revival landmark fronted by a grand columned portico and broad stone steps that give you immediate compositional tools to work with. The symmetry of the facade rewards straight-on shooting from across Court Street, where you can use the steps and columns as a strong central anchor, or move to a low angle to exaggerate the columns against the sky. The surrounding plaza offers wider environmental shots that place the building within its civic context, while tighter frames isolate the ornate cupola and pediment details. Overcast light works well here since the white Tuckahoe marble can blow out quickly in harsh midday sun; early morning on a clear day gives you soft directional light from the east with minimal crowds. A 24-70mm range covers most situations, from wide establishing shots to compressed detail work. Street level on Joralemon Street offers a useful side angle showing depth and scale.
