Wunsch Building
Built in 1844, this Greek Revival temple on Bridge Street is one of Brooklyn's most historically layered buildings, formerly serving as the first independent Black church in the borough and a documented stop on the Underground Railroad, now part of NYU Tandon's campus. The facade's clean columned portico and triangular pediment photograph beautifully against the surrounding streetscape, and a wide-angle lens lets you capture the full symmetry of the elevation from across the street. Position yourself slightly low and centered to emphasize the classical proportions and the depth of the columns. Overcast days are ideal since they eliminate harsh shadows in the recessed portico and bring out the texture of the masonry; early morning on clear days works well too, with soft directional light raking across the stone. The street is relatively narrow, so a 24mm or wider focal length helps when shooting from the sidewalk opposite. (Brooklyn, New York, United States)
