NYC Skyline
Standing at the end of the piers in Brooklyn Bridge Park gives you one of the most iconic skyline views in the world, with Lower Manhattan spread across the water directly in front of you and the Brooklyn Bridge anchoring the composition to your right. A wide angle lens in the 16-24mm range works well for capturing the full sweep of the skyline, but a short telephoto around 70-100mm lets you compress the buildings and pull the bridge closer into the frame. Blue hour is the sweet spot here, when the city lights come on and the sky still holds color, creating a natural balance between the artificial glow and the fading light. Pier 1 and Pier 6 offer slightly different angles worth comparing. Tripod is essential for evening shots, and the waterfront path gives you flexibility to shift your framing as the light changes.
