Buena Vista Park
Buena Vista Park rises steeply from the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood and offers one of San Francisco's most rewarding elevated viewpoints, with sweeping panoramas that stretch from downtown skyscrapers across the bay to Marin and, on clear days, the Golden Gate Bridge. The summit clearing gives you a wide compositional canvas, so a 24-35mm lens works well for capturing the full cityscape with foreground eucalyptus and oak branches framing the scene. Shoot from the upper western slopes for the best Golden Gate alignment, or face east toward downtown and the Bay Bridge for a classic city shot. Sunrise brings soft, cool light over the skyline, while sunset fires up the western sky behind the bridge. The park trails are steep and unpaved in places, so wear solid shoes; parking is limited on Buena Vista Avenue, and the summit is a short but brisk climb.
