Chemin Cross Loop
Chemin Cross Loop is a winding rural road cutting through the forested interior of Gatineau Park, offering classic Canadian Shield scenery with dense mixed forest, rocky outcrops, and the kind of quiet country road compositions that reward patient photographers. The road itself becomes your main compositional tool, use its curves as leading lines drawing the eye into the frame, especially where the tree canopy closes in overhead to create a natural tunnel effect. Fall is the obvious peak season here, when the maples ignite in orange and red, but early morning in any season brings soft diffused light filtering through the trees and occasional mist hovering at ground level. A wide-angle lens works well for the road and canopy shots, while a short telephoto helps compress the layers of foliage.
