About Civita di Bagnoregio

Civita di Bagnoregio is an incredible old hill town that sits high on a rocky hill top, accessible only by a long pedestrian bridge, the Ponte Bonaventura Tecchi. The sweeping view of the western side of Civita provides an almost fantasy/fairy tale vision of an Italian medieval hill town. It sits almost like a castle in the sky. The town was founded more than 2500 years ago, but the population has been in decline since the 1600s. Today, almost all inhabitants live in the town of Bagnoregio, which had originally been a suburb of the hill town. There are now just a handful of actual inhabitants living in Civita. (Bagnoregio, Italy)
