View of Castello Orsini
A great shooting location of the beautiful Castello Orsini in Soriano Nel Cimino. The 13th-century castle was once the summer home of Pope Nicholas III. The castle changed hands a number of times over the years, being held by the Orsini family and by forces from Brittany at separate times, and finally functioning as a prison/rehab facility until 1989. The mixture of architecture makes it a hidden Italian gem and it is also quite photogenic sitting atop a hill in the medieval Italian city. Guided tours of the castle are available for a fee and the views from the castle itself are quite lovely. (Soriano Nel Cimino, Italy)
