Cypress Mountain
Cypress Mountain sits in the North Shore Mountains above West Vancouver, offering sweeping views over Howe Sound, the Georgia Strait, and Vancouver Island on clear days, with the city of Vancouver spread out below. The top of the Sky Chair is the prime vantage point, where you can shoot wide to capture the full panorama of water, islands, and peaks, or compress the layers of mountains and fjord with a telephoto lens. Winter is particularly rewarding, when fresh snow covers the slopes and the contrast between the white foreground and dark water below adds real depth to the frame. Golden hour light in the late afternoon catches the water beautifully and paints the surrounding peaks in warm tones. Keep in mind that reaching the top requires a lift ticket during ski season, so plan accordingly and dress for cold, windy conditions at elevation. (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
