Delphi Falls is a two-tiered cascading waterfall tucked into a wooded ravine in central New York, dropping dramatically over mossy ledges into a clear pool below. The falls are framed naturally by surrounding trees and rock walls, giving you a sense of enclosure that works well for compositions focused entirely on the water and its environment. Position yourself near the base of the lower falls for a wide shot that captures both tiers, or move in close with a mid-range lens to isolate the texture of the cascading water against the dark, wet rock. A wide angle lens in the 16-35mm range works well here. Overcast days are ideal since the diffused light eliminates harsh shadows and lets you use a slower shutter speed to smooth the water without blowing out highlights. The trail from the small gravel parking lot is short and well-maintained, making access straightforward. (Delphi Falls, New York, United States)
