Denny Park
Denny Park is Seattle's oldest city park, a quiet green refuge tucked just north of South Lake Union and surrounded by busy streets and rapidly developing neighborhoods. The dense tree canopy, including mature maples, pines, and flowering rhododendrons, creates a layered, enclosed feeling that contrasts sharply with the glass towers visible just beyond the treeline. Shoot from low angles along the curved pathways to use the rhododendron blooms as foreground color, or position yourself near the central circle to capture the canopy closing in overhead. Overcast days are ideal here since the soft, diffused light works well in wooded settings and reduces harsh shadows on the foliage. A 24-35mm lens gives you enough width to include the tree canopy while keeping the composition grounded. Spring brings the best floral color, but the park photographs well year-round. Street parking is available nearby, and the park is easy to walk through in under an hour. (Seattle, Washington, United States)
