Times Square Building
This striking Beaux-Arts flatiron building sits on a triangular block in downtown Seattle, its narrow wedge shape making it one of the more distinctive architectural subjects in the city. The sharpest and most dramatic angle is from the pointed north end, where the building tapers to a narrow edge between 4th and 5th Avenues, giving you a classic flatiron composition that emphasizes the geometry. A wider lens in the 24-35mm range works well for capturing the full facade while including the surrounding streetscape. Overcast days are ideal since Seattle's frequent cloud cover diffuses harsh shadows and lets the ornate facade detail read clearly. Blue hour and evening shooting add atmosphere, with the surrounding street lights framing the building nicely. The sidewalks on all four surrounding streets give you plenty of vantage points to explore without needing any special access. (Seattle, Washington, United States)
