The Spheres

The Amazon Spheres are three interlocking glass and steel domes rising from the heart of downtown Seattle, blending futuristic architecture with dense tropical greenery in a way that makes them instantly compelling to photograph. From street level, a wide-angle lens lets you capture all three spheres together with the surrounding urban context, while getting close and shooting upward emphasizes the geometric steel frame against the sky. The corner of Lenora Street and 6th Avenue gives you a strong perspective on the full structure. Overcast days, which Seattle offers plenty of, are ideal because the soft diffused light reduces harsh reflections on the glass and brings out the deep greens visible inside. Early morning means fewer pedestrians cluttering your foreground. If you can get inside during a public visit on the first or third Saturday of each month, the layered canopy and natural light filtering through the glass panels create a completely different, lush interior shot worth planning around.
