The Digital Orca is a striking pixelated sculpture by Douglas Coupland, depicting a breaching killer whale in blocky, geometric form just outside the Vancouver Convention Centre. The contrast between the angular, cube-built orca and the organic waterfront setting makes for compelling images, and you can frame it against the downtown skyline, the North Shore mountains, or both. Shoot from low and close to emphasize the sculpture's scale, or step back to use it as a foreground element with the city behind. Blue hour and evening are particularly rewarding here, when the city lights reflect off the water and the skyline glows behind the sculpture. A wide or standard zoom lens handles most compositions well. The area is fully accessible along the seawall, with open pavement giving you room to move around and find your angle.
