West Cordova St

West Cordova St - Photo by whereitsb1 / 1

This stretch of West Cordova Street runs through downtown Vancouver and delivers a strong contrast between heritage brick buildings and modern glass towers, making it a rewarding spot for architectural and urban street photography. Walk toward the middle of the block and shoot down the corridor to let the buildings compress into a tight leading line, or look up from street level with a wide angle lens to exaggerate the height of the towers above you. A 16-35mm or similar wide zoom works well here for capturing the full scale of the streetscape. The blue hour window, just after sunset, is when this location really delivers, as the warm glow of interior office lights balances against the cool sky and reflective glass facades. Street level is fully accessible and the sidewalks give you room to position yourself without much obstruction. (Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
