Fairview Lookout
Fairview Lookout sits above Lake Louise and delivers one of the most striking elevated perspectives in the Canadian Rockies, with the iconic turquoise glacier-fed lake, the Fairmont Chateau, and the surrounding peaks all visible in a single frame. The hike up is roughly 1.5 kilometers with steady elevation gain, so wear trail shoes and bring trekking poles if the path is icy, which is common outside of summer months. From the viewpoint, a wide-angle lens works well to capture the full scene, and you can use the treeline on either side to frame the lake below. Morning light is ideal since the sun rises behind you and illuminates the lake and hotel without harsh shadows. Arrive early to beat the crowds that gather quickly at this popular spot, especially in July and August. (Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada)
