Mirror Lake
Mirror Lake sits along the Lake Agnes Trail above Lake Louise, nestled beneath the towering rounded dome of the Big Beehive, offering one of the more intimate alpine reflections in the Canadian Rockies. The lake is small enough that you can walk its entire perimeter and test multiple compositions, from tight foreground detail with wildflowers or rocks at the water's edge to wider shots that include the full massif reflected in the still surface. Calm mornings give you the best chance at clean reflections before afternoon winds break up the water. A wide angle lens works well here to capture both the reflection and the dramatic peaks above. The lake sits roughly halfway up the trail to Lake Agnes, making it a natural stopping point; arrive early to avoid crowds and catch the soft diffused light filtering through the surrounding forest.
