Fun Alley

Fun Alley is a narrow, mural-lined laneway packed with bold geometric patterns, bright neon colors, and layered street art that transforms an ordinary back alley into a photographer's playground. The compressed perspective of the alley naturally draws the eye down its length, making it ideal for symmetrical compositions and strong leading lines; a wide-angle lens in the 16-24mm range works well here to capture the full height and depth of the walls. Shoot on an overcast day for the most even, shadow-free light that keeps those saturated colors from blowing out, though a sunny midday can add interesting contrast if the alley gets direct light. Position your subject in the middle of the lane for classic environmental portraits, or get low and shoot upward to exaggerate the sense of enclosure. The alley is easily walkable and accessible on foot from Lonsdale Avenue. (North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada)
