Perched on the hill above Schönbrunn Palace, the Gloriette is a neoclassical arcade structure that offers two distinct shooting opportunities: the ornate facade itself and the sweeping panorama of Vienna stretching out below. Shoot the Gloriette from the palace gardens below for a classic symmetrical composition, using the long central axis of the park as a natural leading line toward the structure. From the Gloriette's terrace, a wide angle lens captures the full cityscape with the palace in the foreground, particularly rewarding at golden hour when warm light falls across the rooftops. Early morning visits give you the best chance of soft, even light on the facade with minimal crowds.
