Built in 1882 on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace, this grand Victorian greenhouse stretches nearly 115 meters and floods with warm, diffused light that makes it one of Vienna's most rewarding interior photography locations. The curved iron and glass structure creates strong leading lines along the central nave, so a wide angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range works well for capturing the full sweep of the arched ceiling against the lush tropical canopy below. Position yourself low at one end of the main hall and shoot toward the opposite end to emphasize depth and symmetry. Overcast days are actually ideal here since the glass roof diffuses harsh sunlight evenly across the plants and ironwork; midday on sunny days can produce blown-out patches of sky through the panes. Entry requires a ticket, and the space can get crowded on weekends, so arriving when it opens gives you the best chance at clean, unobstructed compositions. (Vienna, Austria)
