Heceta Beach and Cape Creek Bridge

Perched along the Oregon Coast Highway, Cape Creek Bridge is a graceful 1932 concrete arch structure that curves over a forested creek mouth just where it meets the Pacific, creating a rare combination of architectural elegance and wild coastal scenery. From Heceta Beach to the north, you can frame the full span of the bridge against the headland with wet sand reflections in the foreground at low tide. Walking down under the bridge gives you a dramatic low-angle view looking up through the arches, especially effective with a wide angle lens in the 16-24mm range. Golden hour light from the west wraps the concrete in warm tones and adds depth to the arch shadows. Parking is available in the lot off Highway 101, and the beach itself is a short walk down. Overcast days soften the contrast and bring out the moody coastal atmosphere Oregon is known for. (Florence, Oregon, United States)
