Heceta Head Lighthouse
Heceta Head Lighthouse sits on a dramatic Oregon headland, its white tower and keeper's house perched against steep forested cliffs that drop straight into the Pacific. The classic composition is from the beach or the lower trail, where you can frame the lighthouse above the rocky arch and sea stacks with crashing surf in the foreground; a wide to mid-range zoom works well here. A second strong angle comes from the hillside trail above, where you get a top-down view of the keeper's cottage with the ocean stretching behind it. Sunrise brings soft, even light with frequent coastal mist that adds atmosphere, while overcast days actually work in your favor by keeping the white tower from blowing out.
