Henderson Waves is a striking pedestrian bridge in Singapore's Southern Ridges, best known for its undulating steel ribs that sweep over and under the walkway in a fluid, wave-like form. The structure rewards careful composition: position yourself at either end of the bridge and use a wide angle lens, around 16 to 24mm, to pull the curving ribs into a strong leading line that draws the eye through the frame. You can also duck into the sheltered alcoves beneath the ribs for an interesting arched perspective looking outward toward the tree canopy. The bridge becomes most dramatic after dark when warm amber lighting illuminates the full length of the structure; arrive just after sunset during the blue hour for a balance of ambient sky and artificial light. The bridge is easily reached via the Southern Ridges trail from HarbourFront MRT, and the path is paved and well maintained throughout. (Singapore)
