Hjelle Countryside

Hjelle is a tiny settlement deep in Stryn municipality where the valley opens up to reveal sweeping meadows, snow-capped peaks, and the glassy Hjellevatnet lake below. The classic composition here is to position yourself on the hillside road just above the village, using the winding path or wooden fences as leading lines drawing the eye toward the dramatic peaks behind. Wide angles work beautifully to capture the full scale of the valley, while a short telephoto lets you compress the layers of ridgelines for a more intimate mountain portrait. Golden hour light is exceptional, especially in summer when the long Nordic evenings cast warm tones across the green fields and reflect off the water below.
