In medieval times, Lorch Monastery (Kloster Lorch) was the Hohenstaufen family's place of worship and burial site. Several family members were laid to rest here, including Irene, daughter of a Byzantine emperor and wife of King Philipp of Schwaben. (Lorch, Germany)
