The concrete pier extending into the lake is your best compositional tool here, offering a strong leading line that draws the eye toward the downtown towers. Walk out to the end of the pier for an unobstructed panorama, or shoot from the shoreline using the water's edge to anchor your frame. Early morning is the prime time to visit, when golden light catches the skyscrapers and the lake surface is typically calm enough for reflections. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the full skyline sweep, while a telephoto lets you compress the distance and stack the buildings dramatically.
